1. The Quotation
Every project begins with a conversation. We talk through the piece, your space, and how you live with it. Whether in our Unanderra studio or remotely, we guide you through a thoughtful selection of fabrics and finishes, helping you make confident, timeless choices.

2. Strip, Assess, Repair
Restoration starts beneath the surface. We strip the furniture back to its frame, checking for structural wear and addressing issues with precision. From webbing to springs, every layer is rebuilt using techniques rooted in traditional upholstery.

3. Rebuild with Purpose
With a strong foundation in place, we rebuild your piece using premium materials and deliberate craftsmanship. Hand-stitched details, layered padding, edge rolls and classic methods all contribute to a final result that balances strength with elegance.

4. Return to Beauty

Our Story

Metreson Upholstery has been in business for more than a decade, and currently employs a team with more than 20 years’ experience. We are family-owned and operated in Unanderra, led by Head Upholsterer Ryan Metreson.

Ryan began his career as an upholsterer focusing on furniture in 1998. The very beginning of his long and successful career took shape in Caringbah, in Sydney’s South. It was there he undertook a four-year apprenticeship, which included three years at Lidcombe TAFE. Ryan completed his apprenticeship at the end of 2001 and continued to work full-time in Sydney until the beginning of 2008.

In 2007, Ryan founded Metreson Upholstery. The operation was only available to homes and businesses on a part-time basis. Recognising that there was a real need for fine, top-quality reupholstering in the region, Ryan made the decision to focus solely on Metreson Upholstery within a year.

Today, Metreson Upholstery has grown to consist of a team of four upholstery experts, continuing to deliver a high-quality service across the Illawarra region, giving our customer's existing furniture a new lease on life.
